Originating from Zambia, in Central Africa, the dugout canoe is carved from a hollowed-out tree, completely crafted by hand. African teak is the timber favoured for their construction, though this comprises a number of different species. Dugouts are paddled across deep lakes and rivers or punted through channels in swamps or in shallow areas, and are used for transport, fishing, and hunting. We have a wide range of original canoes which, in the modern home, can make a beautiful rustic center piece for an outdoor table, a stunning feature piece on a side board or place in a courtyard full of lush greenery. Each canoe is a spectacular example of craftsmanship, there are no two the same, which makes them even more special. Contact us for specific images of what is currently in stock.
